Canon Rebel XT or Nikon D50

I am thinking of buying one. Aside from cost do any owners see any major differences?
I am just making the move to SLR from the novice digitals I have had. Price isn't really relevant since they sell both where I work (discount).
I'm not looking for really technical info since I would be lost anyway. I decided on these 2 as i like the body design as i know their are a multitude of cameras out there.
I will be purchasing a book so I can make use of all the functions.
Thanx for any ideas.

They are both fantastic cameras! You would not be unhappy with either choice. While there are certainly some technical catagories that one or the other is a bit better in, most novice photographers and many pros will never push the camera to the extremes required to benifit from the differences. That said, since they have them both at your place of employment.. play with them a bit, and take the one that you like the feel of most.

Also consider lens availability..

With those cameras, the picture quality will be more about your skill and understanding how to use the camera to its potential. Whichever you pick, read the manual.. then read it again, and again.. and, well you get the idea.

Can't wait to see some pics from your new camera, which ever it may be.

Thanx for the input Tim.
I was showing a customer both and ended up holding the Nikon and now I know that's what I want.
I plan to buy it this week or next. The store oput it on sale for 664.00 so I have to wait til sale is over to get my discount which would be 635.00.
Anyway, I will post pics soon as i get it.

If you can wait a couple weeks, there may be quite a few D50 and D70 bodies available at a discounted price. The release of Nikon's next DSLR looks to be imminent. It's 10.2 megapix and seems to be built on the D70 chasis.

Cheers,
WK
