Are collared lizards a good pet?

katykd Jul 20, 2006 06:34 PM

I am new in this forum. I am an owner of leopard gecko and would like to know more about collared lizard because I think they are very pretty and interesting reptiles. I did some research on internet so I basically know how to take care of one but I would really like to know something more about their temperament, behavior, if they are animals I could hold and pet or they are better to leave alone.
thank you.

Most collards make excellent pets, very friendly. They don't always like to be held, but they like to sit on your shoulder or just climb on you.

Hi, I'm a new collared owner and I LOVE them! I have a female who will beg to be taken out and will sit on my hand for almost 30 minutes without trying to jump away. I also have a few who don't seem to mind being handled but that try to crawl up my arm onto my shoulder. Very cool pets!

I'm also new to Collared lizards and can honestly say they are the most fascinating pets I've ever had. They are always on the move, and more often than not will make you laugh with their oddities. Also, their habits are very interesting, they really are strange and intriguing little critters.

I've spent FAR less time in front of the TV since I got mine.....
