for those of you who breed, sell...

xblackheart Jul 20, 2006 08:44 PM

For those of you who breed and sell corn snakes, and either do or do not have a web site, I was wondering how many of you have a business license.
How many have a license and have a web site compared to those who do not have a license and sell from a web site.
Also those who do not have a web site, but sell, how many have a license.

Just curious.

I just purchased a licence this year, as well as State transaction permits to be legal for Reptile Shows. I have yet to get my website built but I will have close to a hundred hatchlings this year so I felt it was the right thing to do to transition from hobby to more of a part time business.

I actually have a permit for the local wildlife. I got a permit through dept. fish & game to breed my cal kings. Its like $50 a year. I am also waiting to hear back from the corn snake registry. I registered, but have not gotten anything in the mail. I am also waiting to hear back from Fed Ex as to whether I got approved for the shipping. I already have a web site in the works, so the last thing, is to get a business license. That is gonna have to wait until next year though.

I live in an unincorporated area that dose not requier a licence for any buisness. I did however doo all the other proper things with my county such as filing for the fiticus business name and stuff. I listed on there I will be working with Rattle Snakes in the on season and breeding reptiles for sale in the off season. The IRS told me I do not need an employer number or anythign ells with them since I do not have any emplyees and all I need to do it turn in my imcome and expences when I do my regular taxes. On a side note be carfull as last year on my business tax return I got a refund of $5 but was charged $40 for the filing fee so it turned out to be another $35 business expence. BTW I do have a website. www.foothillreptiles.com
