How old can they get?

abyssus Jul 21, 2006 09:59 AM

I would like to ask you guys about the oldest snake in your collection or you heard of.Here is mine.
I bought a female sidewinder last fall from a guy I know who is in reptiles for almost eternety. When I got the snake I asked him about her age,and he told me that he caught that snake himself and thought at that time she was between 4-6 years old,and that was 1976!
Well I thought ,at last she will have a nice live evening here.
Guess what two weeks ago she gave birth to 7 healthy babies.

We have several rattlesnakes that have been in our lab for over 20 years; they were adults when they were caught, so there is no way of knowing how old they are, but they live a long time if the conditions are right. That is awsome she gave birth.
Best,
