question on handling

mlove Jul 21, 2006 10:05 AM

Hi, I know different animals have different personalities but I was hoping to find out if chucks like being handled or if they are mailnly display animals. I currently have uromastyx that don't like being handled and collared lizards that either don't mind or seem to enjoy human contact. Thanks for all of your help.

Captive bred animals that have had regular interactions with people from an early age don't seem to mind handling at all. Wild caughts are more of a mixed bag. I've heard of some people getting them to calm down with regular persistant handling, but some just never seem to tolerate it well. I have a male and a female. I got the male as a cb baby and I handle him regularly. The female is wc and she's happier being a display chuck. I've heard that the Angel Island chucks tend to be more laid back on the whole than the commons, but my cb male common is plenty tame for me.
