ChristopherD Jul 21, 2006 11:23 AM

was wondering if orange and red bred together have same the same allelic gene for white ground color. or will they be a reg amel off spring

actually both are albinos that have been selectively bred for that distinct look. so if bred together you would more than likely end up with albinos with the candycane look in either red, orange a combination of both and possibly regular albinos. also if their are any hidden genes you could get something totally unexpected.

I've been breeding an orange candycane to a red female for a couple of seaons now and I always get some of each but, there's usually more red offspring for some reason.I have some of each right now that just hatched.I will post some pics of each after they've shed and eaten. jeff

Candy canes can not be "het". Tey are corns that are selectively bred for the color.

try reading what i asked, and why did you "quote" het i never mentioned het, if anything i was asking if the white of the CC morphe is homozygous

Geeze, A little testy are we.
I was not quoting You, I was quoting where I got the information from. Most people don't know that candy canes are not something that a snake can be het for. I was just mentioning that you have to selectively breed for color.
