cannibal baby corn

adamjeffery Jul 21, 2006 12:31 PM

hey guys just thought i would post this up as to what could happen if you keep your babies together. this little one(i think caramel)was bred by my friend and fellow breeder. he had the clutch still together to save on space(6 clutches out and 27 more to go)well he came home from work to find this. if you look at his sides you can see how distended it has become and how the other baby is curled inside. we are waiting to see if it will regurge or digest but i have not gotten any word yet. so please take note of this.
also here is a picture that belongs to kathy love of the corn that ate itself

And you usually lose both the eaten snake AND the one that ate the other, but I hope that's not the case here.

By the way, I'm fairly confident in suggesting that the snake you have pictured there is a butter, instead of a caramel. Of course, the picture/computer screen/my eyes may be misleading me too!

it actually probaly is a butter. i could not remember if he said butter or caramel because both came out of the clutch. i my self dont have much experience with butters or amels. my buddy was trying to explain them to me because we will be doing some genetic line swapping this year to expand my collection and freshin his up.

I had a king snake magically get into its neighbors cage (in a sliding glass display tank). The snake that she ate was bigger than her, so her whole body had that bumpt ripple effect from right behind her jaw almost to the end of her. It was gross. I thought it was one serious disease because it happened overnight, then I realized I was short one snake. It is very interesting looking and interesting feeling for that matter.

I just left her alone, and within a day, she was digesting it pretty well, most the bumps were smaller. It took her a week to not look so fat. I tell you, she like doubled in length after that. Talk about a growth spirt!

I once had an african house snake and a childrens python housed as neighbors in a neodesha divided cage and the house snake somehow squeezed by the divider and was eaten by the childrens python.

I too had a cali king that chewed on itself for a while ( until I interupted) after missing a mouse and grabbing his own tail! The feeding response kicked in strong.
