I am SO HAPPY

To FINALLY be getting someone here to build my pen. The turtles don't have much time left to enjoy the great outdoors 24/7. It's hibernation time by the end of Oct.
We've had several contractors here to give estimates, we're going to have a backyard patio built at the same time so the way it stands today it looks like we're going to have someone out here next week to start. The plan is they build the pen first, then the patio. They'll have all of it done in one week's time so very soon I can finally give my girls what I've want them to have since April.. their own safe & protected pen to live in.
WHOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Once it's built I will be able to put a smaller temporary pen inside it then Chip the broken male will be able to go outside for sun a few days a week in the early morning.

It's going to be 54 feet wide x 35 feet long.. 2 walls of it will be our regular cinder block fence then 2 walls will be 2 cinder blocks high then there will be a capper on top of those that will overhang by an inch on the inside so it will prevent them from climbing out if they decide they want to try that.
The contractor will build it the way our fence is built with a deep base underground so it cannot be knocked over or dug under.
The whole thing will take up about a quarter of the front lawn. I'll be able to plant edible flowers for the tortoise to eat & they'll be safe from her eating them before they have a chance to grow and that will provide cover for the turtles too, it'll be a multi-purpose pen.
It'll be HUGE! I cannot wait, I've waited too long already.
I'm so excited, can you tell? LOL

OK, now I have serious pen envy: I thought I was doing pretty well with 1000 sq. ft. but you'll have nearly twice that once the job is complete!

Lucky you!
