Update on sick PRB

chloe642 Jul 21, 2006 03:39 PM

Well, I took Potter to the vet today. His prognosis is still up in the air. The vet thinks it could be one of a few different things, some treatable, others not. So, he's treating him for the ones that are treatable, and if he doesn't get better, then we'll know it something else. He gave him an antibiotic injection today, and wants to repeat it about 4 times over the next week to 10 days. He also gave him a vitamin B12 injection and tubefed him. If he responds favorably to the antibiotics, he is going to try feeding him again in a week. I really hope that he gets better with treatment, but based on how listless he has become the past couple days and on all of your feedback, I am really not all that optimistic. I'm not in the best financial situation, and I now it's horrible to focus on that when my animal is sick, but I can't help but worry that after all is said and done I will have spent almost $400 and still lose my snake. But, I can't do nothing if there is a bit of hope, so I'm just going to follow the vet's advice and pray for the best. Thank you all so much for all your feedback and advice, I will keep you updated on his progress. Oh, and one more strange thing. I bought him from the same breeder at the same show as the person who posted a pic of their PRB a couple days ago, but thier's is doing great. I just don't know where he would have picked up something between the show and my house. I guess it's a mystery. I hope that the other PRB continues to do well, at least.
