Sharing an enclosure question.

omnifelpur Jul 22, 2006 02:57 AM

Ok, I've got a 3yr old 6ft female Boa and I'm wanting to get a 6ft 1yr old male burm. I currently have a HUGE enclosure that would be plenty of room for both for a good couple years but I don't know if it's ok to house them together. I've talked to a handfull of people who DO house snakes like that together and don't have a problem but some don't like too so I'm asking for everyones input. Both snakes are very healthy and have met and got along great together, and when feeding they would be seperated of course. I just want to throw the question out there and see what you all have to say. Thanks!

and it was fine. The tic of course grew out very quickly as I saw but they didn't have any problems. It is always best to separate if possible but I have not seen any ill effects of housing them together on a temporary basis. Burms grow very quickly also so maybe a few years might be pushing it.

I have a burm and a boa who are both about 15 months old, they've been living together for about 8 months without any problem. I have to make sure that I separate the two of them at feeding time, otherwise they don't have any problems. The burm did outgrow the boa pretty quickly and she's going to be moved into her own bigger cage within the next week or two.
