Hovabator Question

I'm sure this has been asked here before but I did a search and can not come up with an answer...is it necessary to have a thermostat hooked up to a hovabator incubator (thermal not fan model) to control the temps?

You don't need an extra thermostate, as they come with a built in one, at least the Thermo Hovabators do. There may be hovabators without the builtin thermostate, which may be more useful if you have alot of incubators and only want a single thermastat to use amoung all of them.
