I NEED HELP WITH EGGS< PLEASE LOOK!!

jts2103 Aug 02, 2003 09:53 PM

I have a clutch of s.pine eggs due to hatch in about a week or so. Two of the eggs caved in about a week ago and in my experience should pip in about 4 days or so, but these have not and none of the other eggs have done this yet. So do I hold out or cut one of the two deflated eggs open and see whats up?
Thanks in advance for your help,
JT

I've never seen anything good come from cutting a egg open. My policy is leave them alone. In my opinion a snake that can't get out of the egg on its own, will not be of the quality that I would want to keep, or sell to someone else. The only time I cut a egg open is when I'm sure the snake in it is dead. You didn't say how long the eggs have been incubating? It very well could be that they will hatch anytime now. Also not all eggs get dents before they hatch. Close to hatching time is the time to practice the most patience.IMHO

has even a remote chance of hatching. I cut one open once that I though wasn't going to hatch and found a live baby snake inside. I managed to seal the slit back up with a piece of Saran Wrap, and it pipped THE NEXT DAY...a week behind the rest of the clutch. I agree..hatching time calls for the most patience.
