new hypo cross

fliptop Jul 22, 2006 03:15 PM

Everytime I try and downsize, something catches my eye--in this case, Scott Koonts's hypo crosses. Here's the new babe--just awesome IMHO.

Wow. Nice hypo. What even more amazing is that I would bet this snake looks 10x better in person.

Am I right?

fliptop Jul 22, 2006 04:15 PM

Yeah, even better in person (I actually jokingly criticized Scott for HIS pics--telling him he needs a better camera)!

Very nice Andy... the 2x het never laid for me, better luck next season i guess? (with her and the snow)

i did get 9 good eggs from these (43 days in) and a 2nd clutch on the way
Hi-orange lavenders (interested maybe?... free!)

WOW, yeah, that'd be awesome!--I only want (need) a male, seeing as I got this female.

KEEP ME POSTED!!!

BTW, what happened with the 2X--she simply never got knocked up?

ZFelicien Jul 22, 2006 04:45 PM

i really don't know what happened to the 2x het female... i mean she bred twice to the 3x het male she got bigger she looked gravid, she stopped feeding around the time she was due to lay, she showed "eggs laying behavior" in and out of nest box, very active (searching) and then one day she just didn't appear gravid anymore she just looked like a nice healthy snake?

so i don't know if the male wasn't fertile as yet since he's an `04 (but my lavenders is an `04 and bred successfully)... or if she reabsorbed her eggs (i don't know how that works)... i honestly just don't know why.

i will keep you posted...these are lavenders thou not hypos and i know you have "mango head" so hopefully i have an extra female to spare unless u'd be content with a male, but i should see some pink heads soon.

Hey, Mark,

It's an F2 cross between a hypo brooks and an eastern.

crimsonking Jul 22, 2006 06:10 PM

Thanks Andy. I was thinking that was what it must be..
then I thought maybe a hypo X hypo and didn't know what other hypo it could have been (other than FL)as I hadn't seen a hypo eastern..

Can someone explain what the numbers such as F2 mean. I have seen this used in conjunction with Easterns and was not sure what it meant. Thanks Kevin

ZFelicien Jul 22, 2006 09:31 PM

in this case F2 is a generation marker as in 2nd generation Eastern X brooksi cross

in eastern it's used to represent offspring from WC parents but i'm not 100% how it works with that.
