Where is the best place to buy frozen mice online? Also i'm a little concerned. I will only have one snake, and they seem to only sell in bulks of 100. if i feed my snake once a week, that will last me 2 years, but i doubt that the mice will last that long in my freezer. What do you guys do to solve this problem. I don't want to do fresh killed, because i won't be able to kill the mouse myself, and i don't want to risk feeding it live.

I'm in OC and most of the petcos and petsmarts around here have frozen rodents - I'm not sure if they do where you are at in So. Cal but you can check - they come in small packs of like 5-10 depending on size.

Otherwise I've found for us west coasters The mouse factory (http://www.themousefactory.com/) is cheapest on shipping - you can order by the 25 pack and although they are vacuum sealed - once you've opened them you need to use them in a couple of months or you'll get freezer burn on them.

For just one snake you might want to consider pre-killed food - just go to your nearest pet store pick up a couple of mice/rats kill and feed. You can pick up half a dozen, kill them yourself and put them in a freezer bag for the next couple of feedings.

I'm in long beach, i was at petsmart and didn't know where to look for the frozen mice, i just assumed they wouldn't have them. Where in OC are you? Which petsmart do you go to, and where are they kept? Thanks for your help.

Usually there is a freezer somewhere between the reptile department and the fish department where they keep the frozen rodents and frozen fish food. It's best to find out when they get thier shipments in because they don't usually order a bunch and run out often.

to help prevent freezer burn...

being i have snakes who wont eat f/t and snakes who will.... when i have bought several packs of different sizes....
i had some that went bad due to freezer burn, then i was told to put them in an air tight container.....still freezer burn.

so i went out and bought a roll of the glad press and seal wrap..
and laid the frozen mice and rats on it and then laid another sheet over the top and sealed them each individually, the good thing was i could cut each food item and thaw it as needed.
another good thing was if they were spaced far enough apart i could roll them up in a bundle...

but it did help with the freezer burn.

1 mouse a week is nota hole lot. I would feed her rats or multiple mice per week.

i would suggest a local pet store.probably where your buying your snake.most pet shops that sell snakes will sell frozen rodents.petco is a large chain that does.i would also suggest buying a good book on ball pythons. The Complete Ball Python by Kevin McCurley is awesome, also david and tracy barker's books are very info packed and tell you what you need to know as a beginner. good luck
