Herp permitt for FL

Black_Wolf Jul 23, 2006 07:07 AM

Does anyone know where I can get a Class 3 permitt for FL. I was told you need one inorder to carry your reps anywhere in public(except for petbanned places -"No pets allowed". The only one I found was for: owning class 3 animals, being able to sell and exhibit them($50 fee). I was told that I can get one for free. So am I looking at the right one?
In one of the pet ordiances i looked at said that non-venomus, non-endangered reptiles is a house hold pet (can't remember if it were a state ordanice or city -Jacksonville-). *see list below for my reptiles*
Hope this made enough since for someone to help me out.

You need the $50 permit to "exhibit" Class III. It seems to be the opinion of at least some in FWC that carrying your reptile anywhere in public constitutes "exhibition".

I think you misread. FWC regulations say:

"(2) No permit shall be required to possess the following wildlife for personal use...
(a) Reptiles, amphibians (nonvenomous, unprotected)
..."

You don't need a permit to possess them, but they are still Class III and subject to all the other rules of Class III including the exhibition permit requirements. State regs are still in effect even if local laws are less strict.
