should I be preparing for less stress?

lele Jul 23, 2006 09:58 AM

Hey gang - leaving Tuesday morning, home late Thursday night. Cyrus is in the habit of coming out of his cage every day - often and for a few hours at a time. While I am gone he will not be out at all. Right now, he is climbing the screen "asking" (insisting!) that I let him out. Should I just keep him in today and tomorrow so he gets used to it or will that cause more stress? I know it is going to stress me!! Or should I just let him deal with it once I am gone (and I won't have to be here to watch him get upset )

He even sometimes eats while out of his cage. I have a little cup set up in a plant he passes by. He is healthy, I know this stress won't kill him, but just wondering how best to get him to adjust. A friend is coming in on Wed to make sure water is dripping and to feed everyone.

thanks!

Hi Lele, I wouldn't worry about prep-ing him for your departure. Stitch is "free-roaming" for about 70 percent of the day and the only time he "stresses" out about coming out of his cage is when he sees me. He puts on a pretty good show too I think Cyrus will do just fine.... and even be a really happy to see you when you get back!

thanks, feenie. I just hope he doesn't break all his toenails climbing on the screen for 3 full days! lol!

My friend who is going to check in on the critters was just here and cracked up at how fast he zooms out as soon as I open the upper door - he's a funny guy!

Ya I hate broken nails!

I think he'll be o.k. as long he doesn't see you... seems like he's got you trained already!! You'll have to post more pics of Darwin too in the beardie forum Haven't seen him in a while.
