As the snapper takes the bass.

watch out that your painted doesnt become his next meal!
Do you have any problem keeping the two together? I have a painted and a snapper about the same size in the same pond. So far it's going ok, but I keep reading here that they shouldn't be kept together.
Yes, I have had the occasional problem. When the snapper is eating, hes not too careful about what he strikes at. Fortunately he is still small enough that there was no damage to the painted. As of this past weekend, the snapper is no longer housed with the painted.
Also, the bigger the tank, the less likely the 2 turtles would interact. Lots of cover helps separate them too.

My painted learned to grab her food and swim to the other side of the pond to eat it!
At first I had to watch them pretty carefully, but after giving the snapper a few snaps to the nose, she learned not to go after the painted...so far anyway.
