GOOD/BAD NEWS? what do ya'll think??

STEVES_KIKI Jul 23, 2006 09:13 PM

ok the good news is.... my eggs should be hatching within the next week-3 weeks.... yay for my first and "only" clutch this year. now the bad news.... i used to do alot of reserch about my corns....i used to write daily about hwat my snakes have done, are doing, where they are sleeping, etc. now, i havent done much but feed my lil babies and handle them....BUT today (sunday) was feeding day. so i put Emily in her feeding box with a f/t mouse and took a lil nap... i THOUGHT she was starving b/c shes been moving around non-stop. and doing so she turned her water over 2 times last week and i didnt even fill it back up until today. so...emily had her post lay shed way back when she was supposed to... and lately(unsure of date) she shed again but it seems one of her head scales came off with the shed so now she has a lil white scale on the notch of her head right in front of her head marking. anyways. it was time to feed her today(duh, i already said that) but i put the mouse in the lil container to feed her and it just so happens that i used the same one for her egg-laying box. anyways, emily didnt eat and i didnt feed her alot after she laid her clutch...just 1 mouse a week no matter how much she looked hungry. now....i picked her up today to get her out of the feeding box b/c she eas in the process of going back in with the mouse, which wasnt eatten...and while picking her up i noticed she was kinda squishy. i put 1 and 2 together....is it possible she could have eggs again??? if so i feel bad b/c shes scrawny b/c i didnt feed her alot like i did the first time. sooo what do ya'll think?? i put moistened vermiculite or however you spell it in the container and she crawled right on in....hmmm??? sorry i wrote so much...but is it possible??

It is entirely possible. Do you remember me posting about one of my females being skinny after laying, and wanting to know how to prevent her from double clutching? Well, she double clutched all on her own. I did not over feed her or anything. She laid 13 eggs on june 24th, almost 2 months to the day after her first clutch. 7 eggs were slugs, one went bad last week, I am thinking 3 more are bad as well, but not ready to give up on them yet. I am starting to wonder if she laid even with not having any sperm stored.
So, like I said, you could have a gravid snake.
