Asian Wolf Snake Laid:

Oxyrhopus Jul 23, 2006 09:48 PM

A recently imported Lycodon ruhstrati (me thinks) plopped out 5 good eggs today. I provided a nice lay box, moist orchid moss, dim light, music, and she still decided to lay outside the box. In any case, the eggs did not adhere to the plastic shoe-box, and they lifted out in one tight clump for incubation on that coconut bark stuff which has proven to be an excellent medium to incubate eggs on. After laying, she sniffed the eggs with her tongue as if to check em out. Here is a pic of her gravid and just after she laid and smelling the eggs.

Dim lights and soft music? I love it! But, of course she laid outside of the carefully prepared lay box--you can take a snake out of the wild, but it's harder to take the wild out of a snake--even with captive bred ones. Sometimes I think that the more I fuss & prepare, the more determined some of my mamas are to lay their clutches in the water bowl! (lol)

This is a nice event for you--congrats. Please post info and pics as the eggs incubate and hatch. I appreciate the opportunity to learn more about this species.
