PTS nail trimming

cs_johnson Jul 25, 2006 08:08 AM

I've had my PTS for about 6 months. I haven't trimmed the nails yet, but they're getting fairly long (and sharp, ouch). Does nail trimming negatively affect their climbing ability? What do you PTS owners do? I was thinking of trimming every other nail and then do the others later so they can still climb well... Maybe that's a bit excessive.

Hi cj.....

If I decide to handle the skinks more frequently, I just try to trim the very tips of the nails back, leaving a little bit of the 'hook' left and they don't seem to be hindered in climbing.

Hi Darlene. Your skinks are doing well here in Raleigh! I suspect that larger female is pregnant... about 4 months I'd guess. I thought she pregnant when I got her from you, as she put on some weight, but then she stopped gaining and I saw them mating a few times over 2 or 3 evenings. Now she's really getting big.

The small female has gotten a little bigger and still has problems shedding, but seems healthy otherwise. She's pretty sweet.

Thanks for the advice. I should post some pics for you.

Ah...pics would be awesome. I need to figure out how to send them too. Be patient with me 'cause I rarely make time to get on the computer. Having too much fun outdoors playing in gardens.
