Do Spotteds move slow or fast? I want to be able to put it on my lawn without it taking off like a king would.
And who's breeding some nice ones?
Thanks,

I personally wouldn't. That is a judgement based on my two Children's who are easily as fast as any colubrid I have. (with 10X the feeding response!) To me, yes, they can be fast.

Thanks Sonya. Do you have both spotteds and childrens? If yes, which do you like best?

No, just a pair of Children's. Small ones that are like two feet max and voracious feeding responses.I had held several Spotteds at shows and with people but didn't like them like I do the Children's. Just a personal preference. I honestly would go with what you like the look of. I doubt, other than individual variations that there is that much differences. I went with Children's for smaller size and lighter colors.

I held a childrens once. It was really a nice snake, but it hardly had any spots. It's like they were all faded out. Do the spotted pythons do the same?
Thanks,

Don't know if they lose the spots. I had noted the opposite. That Spotteds had darker, more obvious spots. This is my adult male.

WOW... what a beautiful snake!!!!!!! So how did yours keep it's spots so well, when other childrens fade out so much? I think I need to get off my lazy butt and read up on these guys. I was told that there was some good reading in the Keyword section under Children's Pythons and their lookalikes. I'll check it out. Thanks so far for all your help.

Hi!
Just thought I'd chime in on the spotted/children's question. I have two spotteds, got them instead of childrens because of the better spots as adults. I also have never seen a childrens as spotted as sonya's, I wonder if there's a possibility that it could be a misnamed spotted? Not to question her knowledge, but just because I know until recently they were considered the same species.
As far as their activity level, well, mine are active and really like to move around, but as I've never let them loose inside or out, I'm speeking from handling and cage observation. They definately don't just "hang out". But good luck on your choice and here's a couple of sites on them I found useful.
