Son of a - damn. Bad news

FunkyRes Jul 25, 2006 04:29 PM

Just checking on my snakes.
Notice my pyro pyro cage - the lid is ajar.
Look in the hiding spot - my young femal CAL king is in the hiding spot for the pyro pyro.

I don't know how the hell the cal king got out of her cage - but my pyro pyro is nowhere to be seen.

I guess the clips to secure the screen for the cal king ain't worth much. Time to keep a brick on top of the screen.

Damn - this really sucks.

The pyro pyro was small (under a year) - so it's hard to tell, but I think so.

I can only blame myself - there is a locking mechanism on the tank for the pyro pyro, a pin that drops through the sliding screen top - and I didn't put the pin in when I put an ice cube in this morning.

This is the first time the cal king got out of her cage, and it looks like she just opened the lid to the pyro cage, went in there, and ate her. She probably went in w/ intention of eating her, there's no logical reason for a snake that got out of one cage to enter another.

I'm still tearing apart the room though hoping I'll find the pyro pyro loose. But it does look like the Cal King had herself an $85.00 meal.

I'm going to have to get a better cage for the Cal King - now that she's demonstrated she can get out of that one, which did have the clips on. For now I'm hoping the clips weight of bricks will keep her in. I won't replace the pyro pyro until then, since she knows how to open the pyrp cage (when I don't have the pin in) - and even if she enjoys them, baby pyro's are just too expensive of a diet.

Maybe the pyro pyro is somewhere around the room, I highly doubt it though.
