i respect your point of view, i have decided to like all snakes, c.b. or w.c. sometimes i would like people to leave the wild ones alone but that makes me a hypocrit, oh-well.

But in all honesty, I totally agree with you. To the point of particapation. I purposely created all sorts of morphs, just to fill cages that would otherwise be filled with wild snakes that want to stay wild.

I really do not understand, I like this and hate that attitude. I mean, the ones that do that also pick one color over another, FROM THE SAME LOCALITY. Then call that a locality animal. How does one picked for colors and patterns by silly humans, REPRESENT a locality. When we all know, every locality has a range of colors and patterns?????

OK, for me, its too much coffee, hahahahahahahahahaha Cheers and thanks for your thoughts

Frank I admit that most locality collecters, myself sometimes included, select for color. I think though that if you have knowledge of the range of colors and patterns of the wild snakes you can select for those looks. I have seen alot of graybands from many localities and have formed an opinion on what phses are prevelant at those localities, Langtry probably 80% are medium to dark Blair's with brick orange, Hwy. 277 about 60 to 70% are really nice light Blair's or light alterna, Davis Mtns. 80% dark alterna with about 30% of those being heavily speckled.
Another interesting factor of locality alterna is that in captivity different localities tend to diverge in different ways. The western localities tend to get more speckled as you inbreed and the eastern morphs tend to get lighter and brighter and get lower band counts. I know you can get speckled phase by inbreeding the eastern localities and you can get light Blair's and low band count alterna by inbreeding the western localities but it is alot harder to do unless you get lucky and catch and unusual specimen to begin with.

To me, locality does not say the animal represents that location.
It can't - there's no freaking way to know the distribution of genes in a locality.

It represents that all ancestors of the specimen came from that locality, which could be important to know next time the academics decide to change subspecies descriptions.
