I would suggest not taking anything posted online by herpers about genetic inheritance as 100% golden. There are some very good websites, which most of the time will cover the basics. Sometimes these cover the basics incompletely, sometimes inaccurately.

If you actually want GOOD information on genetic inheritance look up your local community college. Genetics applied to anything is the major 'buzz-word' of our day. A community college would have to be nuts not to have some kind of a basic entry-level course on genetics.

By the way, a good thorough understanding of statistics and probability go a long way in the understanding of inheritance as well. If you have the time and the money, take a Statistics course, THEN a Genetics course.

The money you spend in the books for these courses will more than pay off any time you come up with a question about these things.

As of right now, even the big guys in the herp business are really good at making their hobby into a business; not even the big guys necessarily understand the genetics behind what they are seeing.

I apologize for being so long-winded (both in this thread and the one previous). I hope that both this post and my reply in your previous thread have helped.

Rebecca definitely gave you some good advice. But if you just want to check out a couple of websites I would recommend either ballpython.com or ralphdavisreptiles.com.

Both are very reputable breeders with a section covering the desired topic on their sites.

What kind of info are you looking for? Email me at info@prehistoricpets.com, and ask whatever question about genetics that you have, and I can probably answer it.
