Does anyone have any good spots between Redlands-Palm Springs that they could give up? I understand its been WAY hot lately but I know things are out late, LATE night. Appreciate any help.

`Last time I was out there it was pretty burnt because of development, and the fact that lots of herpers know about it, but you might try Dillon Road just outside of Indio. I imagine there's a ton of spots in the San Bernardino mtns and in Riverside County, but have yet to go herping out there. Good luck.

I have been hitting all the spots I know of in the San Bernardino-Riverside county area and there's just not much happening. I just got back from Arizona and it was just rediculous how much stuff was out at night on the roads. Tons of Western Diamondbacks, glossies, long-nose, kings, Tuscon banded geckos, Colorado River Toads, tarantulas, deer, badgers, I even saw a fox! And the temp. there was like 115-120 daytime.
I will look into the Indio thing. Thanks for your help.
Dude where were you in Az.!?! I just got back from there and didn't see near as much. We were in the Huachuca mtns hunting for L.p. woodini.

Outside of winter, the moonsoons are the worst time of year to look for pyros and green rats. The moonsoons are only good for rattlesnakes and common stuff. This time of year is completely over-rated for SE AZ. Northern AZ is where it's at for the moonsoons. SE AZ is best in early spring and fall when everyone left. Walking 10 miles for one mountain king is waste of time when you can find 5 in an hour under rocks during the right time of year. Green rats are also just as easy. Might be the most common snake (At least top 3) where they are found in SE AZ.

Would that be near Strawberry and Payson? If not, how is the herping around that area? I usually go up to the Mogian Rim once a year during the winter, and wish it were during the spring. It is so green and looks like their would be alot of cool stuff during the right time of year!

Both would be good. I really like the Painted Desert area and the most northern mountain ranges. Lots of cool crotes and tri-colors not oftern seen. No herpers either. Nights are crawling with herps. Not a boring moment.
