Are any Ghost

Jaytor Jul 26, 2006 12:01 AM

The pic is right out of the egg. The parents are from 100% het ghost. Male is from a proven line and the female is from a wild caught ghost(or thought to be ghost) 3 of the babies are lighter and the heads and some of the pattern is pale. Pics are not that good. What do you think?? Thanks

im no expert but from the stated breeding, with those hatchlings being quite lighter than the others and with the pinkish, ill say yes ghosts? (i may be totally wrong)

TomChambers Jul 26, 2006 12:32 AM

they are normals and/or hets.

if they were ghosts it wouldn't be questionable you would see it.

There is often variability in the same clutch.

they look nice though.

I totally disagree that there are no ghost. Their not too obvious but I see three that I think are Ghosts. The one on the top center (not really center, more off to the right). The second is on the far left at the 9:00 position and the third in on the bottom at about the 5:00/6:00 position.
Just look at their coloring and above all the SOLID tan/orange head. To me without a doubt you have three ghost in the clutch.
Good job man.

I agree. I also thought there were 3 ghosts based on the color, especially the heads. Look at the next couple of sheds to see if they are clear on the three in question.

Good luck with them,
Tom

Orange ghosts are normally very obvious but sometimes yellows or greens can be tricky if you havent looked at tons of them before. I say definatley 3 ghosts no doubt. Congrats !!! What were you ratios on sex?

I say three too. Can you take a pic of one normal and one ghost that is a clear shot. Your pic quality isn't the best. Congrats

Looks like some Ghost in there too me. Some better pics after they shed will help determine.

reptilicus81 Jul 26, 2006 10:21 AM

The shot is too difficult for me to see. The three with the blushed heads should be shot individually or each next to a "normal" clutchmate. Ghosts of all types are lacking black pigment, and have blushing throughout...I can't say that I see that from the pic (too hard to see), also, they tend to look like they are about to shed Again, I can't tell much from the pic! Than again I have not produced any ghosts of my own! You said one parent was a proven line, and the other was unproven. What line was the 100% proven parent? That would probably help Also, post the pic of the parent that is unproven ghost...

I could very well be wrong though, this is just from my experience. Here are a couple shots I took last year of two ghosts and their siblings. The picture of them out of the egg was taken before their first shed.

I would like the last two people to know that there are plenty of different lines of ghost out there and you guys were basing your input on the Orange Ghost which is one of the brightest and most obvious of the ghost morphs. As I wrote before I believe he has three ghosts. They may not be as bright and obvious as the O.G but they are ghosts nun the less.

The ones I showed pictures of were not from an orange ghost clutch, they were from a butterscotch to het butterscotch breeding. Here's a picture I took tonight of a ghost clutch hatching, same pair as last year. Not a very good picture but you can see the ghost still in the egg and a light color sibling at the top.

I already admitted I might be wrong, but what I'm going by is the amount of black. I do see the lighter colors and fading but I have seen that in a lot of different clutches. I hope I am wrong but without better pics I think it is too hard to tell 100%...

I agree totally.

That is what I was going by, the black between the saddles is black not faded.

I've seen faded heads on many normal and het babies.

I still don't think they are ghosts, I hope I'm wrong.
