Axanthics

pichereptiles Jul 26, 2006 12:15 AM

Just looking for different opinions on which line (SK,VPI,Jolliff, etc.)of axanthics are the best.I'm thinking of starting a project with axanthics but am stuck on which one to get. Some have nice banding but lack the color that some possess.
Thanks

Adult VPI Axanthic male x 50% het VPI Axanthic female. This girl is ovulating right now, I can't wait to see if I get any Axanthics.

I don't own any, but from what I've seen and read VPI keep there color best.

Here is a picture of some VPI Axanthics and a few Het. Axanthics that just hatched out over here. I am partial to the VPI line.
Enjoy the pic.

Thanks,

Either SK or VPI. As hatchlings, they ALL look good. I've never seen a bad looking hatchling from either line. As they mature, some brown out, some stay more gray/silver. Some breeders will say that the VPI line does not brown out as it matures. I disagree based on the pics I have seen in the classifieds. It will be interesting to see what happens when more axanthic crosses come to market. Just imagine if a really hot looking cross is produced using an axanthic that browned out and did not stay gray/silver!
I'm working with both lines. As my hatchlings mature I'll decide which project they go to based on the amount of gray/silver or brown.

It is new, new is usually good, because there are less out there. If they look decent, I would go with NERD.

These are my SK line Hets mating. I produced poss hets last year, all had banding, the one Axanthic did not make it out of the egg, but I know they are Hets, not that I had any doubt, but all Axanthic babies look awesome.
