Feeding toads dog, catfood and...

happycamper Jul 26, 2006 10:53 AM

What is the best non-live food to feed toads? I have a big, fat Texas toad that eats anything you drop in front of it and move with a stick. I've given her dogfood and boiled chicken, but I'm sure that isn't healthy too often. Maybe turtle food? This is in addition to crickets of course.

Thanks,
Lance

Dog food is for dogs, cat food is for cats. Dog food is an omnivorous diet (all anurans are carnivores), cat food is way too rich in protein and fat.

The healthiest diet you can provide is a variety of live invertebrates that have been gut-loaded and occasionally dusted with supplements.
