FF and the Temps, whats ??

crestygecko Jul 26, 2006 06:08 PM

hello all,

I have been having trouble with my FF culturing lately. The medium dry's up super quickly and the FF are not producing. I have followed the same instructions as before when they could not stop producing but since the heat has sky rocketed the FF's have not produced. Is their a ceartain temp where they produce a lot??? temps where they dont produce at all?? What can I do to stop this problem????? Thanks all!!!

Mid 70s are the best, if the temp gets much over 80 they can become sterile. Too cold and production slows. As far as the medium goes, the amount of water you add is pretty dependent on the relative humidity of your home/area where you keep the FFs. With the AC on in my home its really dry so lately I've been having to double the amount of water/vinegar. This is with premade dry mix.

Thanks! I guess I need to add more water because its drying up super fast and they are not showing signs of productivity. Thanks for you help.
