if i took a 100% het albino male and a 100% het albino female ( both look like normal balls?) would that produce a all albino (white) offspring or at least a few all albino offspring. new to breeding.,,,thanx chris

in theory you should get 1 in 4 albino's from het to het breeding. This doesn't always work out and you may get nothing or you may hatch out all albino's, it's a law of average, each egg would have 25% chance to be albino, 50% chance of being het and 25% chance of being normal.

just to clarify for my sake, het on het lovin gives me at least a chance of getting an all albino (white)snake. out of say 4 eggs i could get 1 albino 2 hets and 1 regular? or even all 4 be albinos. now if i took a het 100% pied and a het 100% albino....?
each baby would be 50% possible het for albino and 50% possible het for pied. more than likely at least one would be double het, but it would take alot of breeding to find out each snakes genetic make-up. IMO using a het female to breed to another het of a different trait is wasting that het female. It would make more sense to breed her to produce the visable morph and trade up to double het or a 100% het albino 50% het pied. The only time I will use a het not being bred by the same trait is if using a co-dom animal and producing co-dom poss het animals.

100% het to het =
25% albino
25% normal
50% 66% het for albino

you could be dead on or you can get better odds and you can also strike out.

Just to clarify. A snake is either albino or it isnt. You dont have partial albinos. And albinos are white with yellow. There are all white snakes, but they are not albino. Het albino to het pied you would get all normal looking snakes each with a 50 percent chance of being het for albino or pied. Not sure what the odds work out to be for the offspring to carry both genes. Stiil 50% maybe. Im not sure.

i am sorry. i should clarify. i have seen the ivory ball all white snake.thats not what i want. what i am going after is an albino ball. i would like to start breeding my favorite pet ( next to my chocolate lab) on the planet to get my favorite color, which is albino. and getting a all albino ball would cost thousands ($9,000 roughly)and i have not the money cause i am poor.. cough.. cough.. i mean i am married and have a son, lol. but, for roughly $600 to my door i can have a male and female 100% het albino balls. now i am new to the terminology ,sooo "het" means? genetic markers, bloodline? and het albino came from a clutch produced by all albinos? or other het albonos? please josh explain...thanx again ,,,chris. p.s. panther cham breeding was difficult to get at first by i finally got it. i am a information HORE..
First off you can get albino bp's for $1500 or less right now. If you want to breed to produce your own albino you should buy a pair of 100% het albinos from a reputable breeder. If you breed the pair together statistically speaking you will produce 25% albinos and the rest will be 66% possible het for albino (they will all look normal and it is impossible to tell which are the hets thus the term 66% het albino). To put it another way if you get 4 eggs from a pair of 100% het for albinos you should get 1 albino and 3 66% possible hets. Hope this helps Vinnie
I think maybe a lesson in genetics is in order. Take a look at this link, and hopefully it will help you understand.
http://www.newenglandreptile.com/genetics_intro.html
There are four pages, look at the bottom of the page for links to the additional pages.
Albino (amelanistic) is a recessive trait. So it requires both alleles for albino for it to show. A "het" (heterozygous) animal only has ONE of those alleles, and therefore doesn't show the trait (in recessive traits).
The $9,000 snakes that you have seen are almost assuredly Ivory or leucistic, not albino. The number one clue as to whether you are looking at an amelanistic albino is pink eyes. Ivorys and leucistic do not have pink eyes, albinos do. (It is possible to have an albino leucistic animal, which will have pink eyes, but to my knowledge, there aren't any albino leucistic ball pythons. Most I have seen have been rat snakes). Also, an amelanistic albino ball python will have a yellow pattern on it.
I hope this helps, but please spend some time researching genetics (like at the link I gave). It will give you a basis for investigating ball python morphs.

Just like you stated the ivory which costs around $5000-$10,000 is an almost solid white snake that you don't want. The ivory is the super form of breeding 2 yellow-bellies together. That trait is what is known as a co-dom trait meaning the heterozygous form is distinguishable from a normal. However, the albino trait, is a simple recessive trait. What this means is that the heterozygous form is not distinguishable from a normal or wild type. A pair of het albino's would cost about $600 from someone that has built a reputation of delivering what they are selling, you might be able to get them for around $500 but make sure you ask for references before sending money. Like the other posters have stated, an albino isn't a bank breaker like they used to be, one can be bought for less than $1500 if you shop around. The albino trait is an all or nothing type of mutation. It is either 100% albino or it has normal appearance. The typical albino appearance is a snake that has replaced the black with white and the brown coloration with a yellow. Different lines produce different shades of yellow with some almost like a neon orange color. The higher contrast the animal, the higher price it will fetch. As a side note, animals with lighter yellow tend to fade more as they age where as the higher contrast animals tend to hold more vibrant color as they age. I've included a pic of an albino female that we picked up last year with my wife holding her. If there is anything else you need, don't be to shy to ask, everyone has to start somewhere.

thanx josh for all the help and thanx all for the help as well. as one final thought i am likely to get a albino ( yellow white) from 2 100% hets. anyone know of a trusted breeder that i can get hets from. i mean if they look just like regular balls how does the dealer know?. thanx again...chris
There are many trusted breeders. How does the breeder know? Well, they know what they are breeding and what the outcome should be - or at least they should. I breed normal females and het albino females to an albino male. I know that the very least I'll get are 100% het albinos.
Don't rush your purchase. Do as much research as you can to protect yourself.

I think it would be a 1 out of 16 shot at an offspring to inherit both genes. Just remember that all the offspring would look normal and thus take you a long time to tell by breeding all that out.
Although it isn't really worth doing..It would actually be a one in four chance(of being double het albino/pied).The same odds as het albino to het albino would be to hatch an albino.(Since your still dealing in a single allele on each side, with the parents).
Now if you were to pair up some double hets...then you are looking at that one in sixteen chance.Since there are two different pairs of alleles that would have to be in place for the baby to be double homozygous(Snow,LAP,etc..)

You see the post by AJCobb a few threads down from this one? They bred a male Albino x Het Albino female, which means, EVERY normal looking animal is a 100% Het, because of the male Albino. I would email them, ask how much a female Het Albino is, and wait a year and get your male Het.
