This is one of my nicer chocolate wandering garters...they all have varying amounts of black.

That's pretty awesome man.

I never really knew what those looked like, and now I'm tempted to get one.

That's one you got from me right?
If so I wouldn't call it cholcolate. They are hyper-melanistic.
I wouldn't call them chocolate for a couple of reasons:
1. Most of them don't have any brown on them at all so I think Chocolate
is inappropriate.
2. Those are the bloodline I produced and they therefore
are probably quite different genetically from Scott F's chocolate
animals. His are from Colorado Origin and mine are from Utah.
I wouldn't want people to breed the two togeather thinking they
were the same thing. Scott mentions on his website that his is
a recessive trait but from what I have seen with my hyper-melanistics,
it may be a co-dominant trait.

Yes, that's one I got from you. They are siimilar in appearance to Scott's "chocolate" wanderings....that's why I called them that...for now. He called them chocolates because they weren't totally black like the melanistics...If hyper-melanistic fits their description better than I will call them that! This males side stripes are getting yellow, kinda washed out by the flash. All 4 are pounding the f/t rat pups!
