So my girlfriend has wanted a pacman toad for the longest time, but she can't get one because her parents don't want it at their house. (She is in college and lives with them)
I told her I'd buy her one for her birthday and keep it at my apartment.
I've been researching, and they seem fairly easy to care for...
but I want to get everything right the first time...so...

What is the best substrate to use?
What size tank should I buy?
Just basic details from expirienced people...

Thanks all.

Substrate: Bed-a-beast or similar product (do a google search for variations)
Tank: 10gal will do.

Other things: be sure to get an undertank heater if your region doesnt provide your frog with a temp range of 75-80 deg.F. If you use air conditioning alot in your house then getting one is probably necessary.

You don't need a screen lid, it's just convienient to have. If you want to keep humidity in the tank, place some ceran wrap over the top one half of the tank (preferably over the area where your frog will be spending most of it's time.)

Light/lamps/etc, not needed. If keeping him in your room just try not to stay up too late so he doesn't get stressed by having him be awake for most of the time. You'll know when he's tired when you'll see his eyes go beady.

Don't keep crickets in your room, some might get out and you'll have a good time finding them. They can eat through the plastic bag that the pet store gives you. I have yet to find a suitable container for crickets that I don't have to go out and buy. I've used a lays stax container, but many of them ate each other. It's just because I didn't provide a separate food souce like a slice of apple. Tip: buy a dozen or so crickets if its not too much trouble going to the pet store often.

Have fun.

He's going to be in my reptile room.
(I'm not a newbie to reptiles and amphibians. Haha.)
That door is going to stay closed so that the A/C doesn't get into it. My apartment is third floor, so it should be pretty simple to keep temp, but I will get an undertank pad anyway.

I live around the corner from a pet store, so crickets are no problem, and meal worms I can keep in my fridge.

I was under the impression that he would want to thermoregulate, so I was going to go with a 20 gallon...
will a 10 gallon allow him to regulate enough?

Your frog will like to stay in the heat source all the time with the nice moist bed-a-beast. He'll either stay in his substrate or go to his water dish.

Oh, ok.
Good to know.
Thanks!
