No, they're not dangerous UNLESS you have an anaphylactic response to their mild venom. They do get quite long, up to six feet, and need a large enclosure. The higher the better. They eat like crazy. I fed mine one lizard each a week, but they could easily eat more. I know some that would feed two lizards a week. They can be switched over to mice, but it takes alot of work and time. I kept mine at 70 or so degrees with an incandescent light, a tree, some vines, and a bunch of plants. I misted them a few times a day and kept a little water bowl in the enclosure as well.
what species do you have?
I had a pair of a. prasina. It got to be too much of a pain having to go to the pet store for anoles, so I traded them for a Florida pygmy. They are very cool snakes, and I miss having them. I don't miss the pet store, though. I forgot to mention earlier. Most vine snakes are wild-caught, so if you do get one, it would be a good idea to treat it for parasites.
