Clearly you know what you're doing with a camera, I have some questions:

- What aperture and shutterspeed were these at?

- Did you use any flash exposure compensation, or was this at full power?

- What ISO?

Thanks, appreciate anything you can share.

Thanks for the Wow.

I am unfortunately not a camera expert yet. All of these shots were taken with the autosettings. Most of the time I have a hard time trying to manually manipulate the settings when I have a moving venomous reptile to watch out for. I do have a diffuser to dim the flash, I think I still need to dim it a bit more.

Great pics Jaren.

I was just in the Tucson area this past May and got a few decent finds/pics.

And last but not least .... a few tiger pics

Nice young tiger....Santa Cruz Co?

jts Jul 31, 2006 04:07 PM

Tiger was from Pima county ... I believe anyway from just now looking at an AZ county map.

I'm from the northeast but I frequently visit herper friends in AZ who take me out to photograph. I'm often asking them, quite to their amusement - What mountain range are we on again?
Needless to say I'm not the best one to ask for exact locality data without checking with them first for absolute confirmation.

Going there again in August - Hoping for a decent trip as they tell me they have been getting some good rains lately.

Hey, ty for the response. If it was Pima Co I'm assuming it was in the Catalias. Very nice looking animal.
We have been getting some decent rains throughout the state, the southern half has been getting pounded with rain especially the past week or so! I think it's actually been slowing the herp movement down.
I'll be down south the entire third week of Aug, maybe see ya down there!
Cheers, Bill

Looks like you had a fun trip. This year especially has been difficult for most. Nice shots.

My wife and I may take along weekend out to the Scottsdale area in Ocotober. What's the herping like at that time of year? It would be my first trip west of PA so I have no idea.

October can be good still. I can remember finding Arizona Mountain Kings in October. I also remember on Halloween one year in the lower desert following a light rain shower, I found 11 rattlesnakes in about 1 hour.
