I recently bought a baby tokay, so I can tell you how I have mine set up, which seems to be going well for now. I have a combo light, one bulb 60 watt day, the other a 50 watt red bulb for at night. I keep them both on. I also have a UVB flourescent bulb for the plants. I usually just keep the 50 watt and the UVB on during the day, which keeps the temp around 80. The temp should be between 80-90. At night it can go down about 5 degrees. The humidity should be between 60% and 80%. I mist the plants twice a day. The tank I have is 20 gal High. They dont really care about length so much as height. At night, he is always at the top of the cage. Also, I have jungle mix which is basically just dirt from a pet store as the substrate. Anything to hold the plants in place and holds humidity is suitable. Be careful not to use something that the tokay might ingest while hunting since it is a baby it might become impacted. I paid the same for my tokay so it is a reasonable price. I feed crickets dusted with calcium and vit. d3 and then give multi vitamins once a week, and once a week I give waxworms to beef him up. As you know they are aggressive, I am working on taming mine now if only I could catch him in the cage. Good luck.

Where Did you get yours?
How Many times should i feed him weekly? And can i feed it freeze-dried crickes?
About the lighting... I don't need The UV Lighting unless I have live plants, right? Any other informataion is appreciated (sp).

The UVB lighting is mostly for the plants, but it could help process the vitamin d3. I only use it in vivariums with live plants though. My leos dont have UVB. I doubt that he will eat freeze dried crickets, all of my geckos only eat live food, and I think that is the case with most. I feed everyday, about 6-10 med. size crickets, they should be about 3/4 the size of his head. I feed him everyday now bc he is growing, but once he becomes older he wont need food everyday. Every other is the norm I think.

A UVB light is not necessary but is helful for nocturnal reptiles. Ive noticed that mine likes to sit under the light and is more active overall. In any case, there is almost 0% chance that he will eat frozen. They are working on this special dish that vibrates and makes the frozen crickets kinda jump around which should stimulate feeding behavior. I am not exactly sure when its going to come into retail though I havnt checked lately.

Thanks!

One more thing where did you get yours, like at a store or off internet, if it was off the net, what site?

I got mine from the petshop I work at. Got it for $10 instead of the 26 we usually charge. I prefer to buy from pet stores simply because you can see it in advance. A lot, however, have stopped carrying them since theyre so mean and usually only come in 10" . In any case, make sure its healthy if you get it from a pet shop. If the salesperson is too scared to get it for you or has to get backup then you pretty much know its healthy. If you do want to rescue one from improper care, this is one of the few lizards that I actually would rescue because they recover quickly and are very hardy. $19.99 is a good price. Our store gets them for $7 but its a store so.....
