Incubators

kenfine Jul 28, 2006 01:52 PM

Hi all, I'm wondering if some of you have dealt with power outages during those long periods of incubation. We've already had 3 power outages this year, one lasting for several hours. I've been looking around trying to find an incubator with a battery power backup system. There's plenty around if you want to spend $3000. Or maybe there are separate battery backup power supplies available that will just plug in to an existing incubator.

Can any of you point me in the right direction?

You might want to look into a UPS (Uninteruptible Power Supply) APC is probably the lead company in the field (apc.com). Just a matter of how many watts you need for how long and what you are willing to pay.

check out avey incubators. i believe they have a model that can be plugged into your car adapter if necessary to avoid power interruptions. they are on the web and are usually at daytona. i hope this helps.

I'd spend a couple hundred bucks on a generator and some extension cords. You might have a more advanced problem up if A/C going out is the issue, but an electrician can fix that up for you easily enough.
