turtle egg incubating question

civicfan8 Jul 28, 2006 10:18 PM

Hi,

I have 4 Asian Box turtle eggs incubated at 82F, and 70 days later, the white band in the middle of the egg has disappeared and the whole egg turned white, and a few days later a longitudal crack developed.

It's now day 80 but hatching has not taken place yet. Is this normal? Should I spray water onto the eggs to signal them to hatch?

Thanks for any advice.

Regards,

Civicfan8

Did this happen to all of the eggs or just one?

2 of the 4 turned all white first, then the crack developed, now all 4 had turned white and had the cracks...

Don't spray water directly on them. If the hatchlings are pipping, it could drown them. Just keep things going as normal, and make sure that there is adequate oxygen in the chamber. If all goes well, they should begin to fully hatch out soon.
