leopard tort eating substrate

I have coconut husk cubes and sand -My tortoise has been in this substrate for about 3 months-as he was pooping I noticed the coconut fibers coming out-is this normal-this is the first time Ive seen this-I know they eat the substrate sometimes just want to double check
