Burrowing question......

PBM Jul 29, 2006 03:39 PM

A friend of mine has a couple Crested Geckos and recently put some type of moss as a partial substrate. The geckos now spend the day under the moss. She's just wondering if this is normal behavior. I keep boas, so I have no clue what's "normal" behavior for these Crested geckos. Thanks to anyone that replies. Take care

Paul

My experience with mine says that sometimes they will burrow into the substrate. They like to hide while sleeping, and they sleep during the day. It may be that they're just seeking cover to hide in. Does your friend have a lot of foliage in there for the geckos, or not much? Also, the substrate will hold moisture, and they like to be kept fairly humid (60-80% relative humidity), so it may be that during the day the rest of their enclosure has dried up a bit, and they're just getting down where they're more comfortable...
