Leo's and pinkies

kyle4038 Jul 29, 2006 04:13 PM

how often am i able to feed my leo pinkies. she's big enough for them, and i like giving her something other than crickets, and worms. plus they seem to me more nutritious.

The generally accepted wisdom on this, as far as I know, and everything I've read agrees, is that pinkies are only recommended as a way to fatten up females prior to breeding, and that gut-loaded crickets are the best balanced nutrition for leopard geckos.

I usually give them a pinky after I find a new clutch of eggs. I have also given them to males as a treat and to add a little variety. Althogh I don't do this alot, just when I have a few thawed ones that nobody else wants.
