I was waiting to respond to this until a few other people gave their advice on it but I suppose no one wants to comment on it. So here is my opinion on it. Mine will start to lay infertile eggs at about 10 to 11 month of age. So if at that point they are ready to breed then I put in the male and off we go every month after that. Good luck and let us know when they start for you.

Now lets hear from the rest of you.

hi,
i usually start breeding with my snakes when they are about 3 years old, breeding with too small guys may cause physically damage on your hogs.

(breeding with too small guys may cause physically damage on your hogs. )

what kind of damage have you ever seen from this? or is this just what people have told you?

after 15 years of breeding hognose of all kinds I have never noticed any kind of damage from breeding them to small. I suppose in the wild all the females that are just to small must stear clear of any males looking for love or they will end up with (physical damage?) just wondering...

you set yourself up for that one jim . i can't say i didn't see it comeing. any way i would have to agree with jim 100% because if you know anything about tri-colors you would know they naturally breed at or around that age . atleast all of mine have . but it is also like he said before they will always let you know when they are ready not when you are ready . just my 2 cents LB.
