glass and screenclimbing

jillmae3 Jul 30, 2006 12:12 PM

I have read somewhere that if iguanas try to climb the glass or start to hang from the screen top that something is wrong, However i can't find where i read it. Does anyone know what this means? He just started doing it about 2 days ago. Thanks

From my experience I'd say means nothing except for the possibility that his cage MIGHT be to small for him.I always try to keep wood as the ceiling and lights heaters above through holes so he can't climb on the top making mess and burning himself

Right now he is in a 55 gallon aquarium. He is not very big so the aquarium shouldn't be the problem. He can't get to his lights or anything we made a special top for it just for that reason!! We are in the process of building his dream home but we weren't in any hurry cause he's still pretty small. I wish i could find where i read that article. Thanks for all help.

actually iguanas hate to be in aquariums so that's your problem.

You need an enclosure that allows the ig to climb.. an aquarium is for fish or ground dwelling reptiles. You need something with about 6 feet up and down for your ig to climb on. That would be why he's always at the top hanging.. he wants to get higher up. (in nature they stay at the very tops of the trees)
