Growth rate in Longicauda...

lateralis Jul 30, 2006 02:57 PM

I have a beautiful pair of longicauda that were born in 2004 and I was wondering if any of you boa aficianados have some experience with these guys. They have never been power fed, BUT they sure have not been starved either! 1 appropriately sized meal every 7-10 days, up from 2 mice a week as they were growing from babies. I switched to a larger meal with more time between once they got to around 2feet. They are now both about 4feet and seem to have grown very little over the last season with one shed a piece. My question is how large do they get ultimately, are they somewhat of a dwarf species? Any insight is appreciated.

Just google it and look for
Rio-bravo
Cuttingedge
Boa-Constrictor

They all have some good BCL info.

Hey lat , what I can tell you is that they on average are small boas. Their born at about the same size as Nicaraguans and as adults typically get about 6ft with a more slender build then a Columbian. Ernie Eison

Ernie, thanks for the reply, they are turning into some nice snakes! Hope they throw some nice babies in a year or three, now if I could convince you to part with that hypo that you have hidden away LOL. Next time Im out in Florida I'd like to come by and check out your place if you allow visitors.

Mine are also around the same size, they do seem to be more of a dwarf boa, I know Micah Denton has females that are several years old, bred many times and have seemed to max out at 6-6.5ft...
