Just a thought: Did you ask for permission before posting these here? Also, didn't the authors of those photos want to be credited with their authorship?
I'm sure your intentions were good, but the authors of photos do retain the copyright over them, and they shouldnotbe posted elsewhere without permission and without giving credit to the photographers.
Cheers,

Well, I did say I got them from fieldherpforum.com. A GREAT SITE that I also participate in and much more than this one. I did ask permission from the author except for one of the pics. (I got carried away) I really just wanted to show you all the shots of the rear fangs. I think you are blowing this all up. I did not credit myself for anything. I should have just put up the link. So here it is. Another thought, how can someone have a copywrite on something if they do not declare it a copywrite? The purpose of that site is a place for people to meet up and share info, like this one. I was just thinking how the CB side of hognose snakes would like to see the great pics these guys took out in the field.

Hi Nick,
Sorry, I did not see that you had asked for permission - I guess I jumped the gun.
As regards copyright, any pictures or words anyone posts on the internet are their intellectual property, and the author has copyright over them, whether there is a copyright symbol or statment on the photo/text or not. The idea that anything posted on the web without a copyright symbol is freely available for anyone to do with as they like is a widespread misconception: you can NOT simply post someone's photo on a website without the owner's permission, irrespective of whether there is a copyright claim on it or not. Obviously, some photo authors don't mind, but that cannot be taken for granted. Also, it is always courteous to identify the author of a photograph, even if this was not specifically requested or demanded.
Cheers,
WW

Nick,
You don't have to put a copyright logo on your photos to maintain copyright, even if you post it on a public forum. The art belongs to the artist, in whatever format. This is why you can't go buy a CD and sell taped copies of it (or even give them away). I'm glad to see you asked, but you should have credited the photographers.
As for posting about the other forum, read the terms of service here. Posts saying "hey check out this other forum on another server" are prohibited here. Frankly, I'm surprised you post hasn't been deleted yet for that violation.
It doesn't matter how you feel about that rule, it is simply the rule. Their server, their rules. Try going into Wal-mart and posting a sign that says "Shop at Target - they rock!". It wouldn't last 2 minutes.
I love the other site as well, but I know I can't post about it here. I'm not trying to chastise you (nor was Wolfgang), just trying to make you aware of the rules.
