You got involved, you are involved big time with the issue of carnivals handing out Igs as "prizes". I have contacted the local paper, 2 TV stations (one in Evansville and one in Terre Haute) and the health dept by email. I will follow up tomorrow by phone. This will not happen again. It is ironic that it is illegal in the county seat, Vincennes, but not in Bicknell where the fair is held. I have offered in each of the emails to take any Ig that is not wanted. If I get too many to place in responsable homes where can I get help or should I euthanize them? I would hate to to that but it's better than slow death by MBD.

It is a sad fact that we are still trying to place igs that were prizes at our local fair and the State of Florida is swamped with feral iguanas, the offspring of pet iguanas turned loose.

All the pet stores in my area were swamped and some where placed with neighbors and pet stores in neighboring towns. This is the kind of news that needs to be documented. What happens to these iguanas after the fair is the real story that people need to hear.

I did ask for letters from Indiana Residents. We have had some sucess in my area with flooding the fair boards with complaints.

I tried to get a state law but failed. There is a possiblity that we will be the first state with a ban on iguanas as prizes only. Many states ban just rabbits and chicks. It is much easier to get a law passed locally. If enough people think this is a barbaric practice, it will happen.

Our newspaper ran a picture of my large female on the front page. A North Carolina paper ran a picture of a large male iguana.

What I found was that the average citizen has no idea what is happening at the fair until their own child arrives with a critter.
