bp diarrhea and gas

tamyin Jul 31, 2006 01:40 AM

My female ball python expelled a huge amount of gas, and sprayed feces all over the side of her cage. It is possible I put to much water treatment in her water, but this has never happened to her before... Any suggestions? Has anyone encountered this before? Is diarrhea normal for ball pythons? She is about 9 months old, and otherwise healthy, to my knowlege.

I would have a vet check her for internal parasites. It is not unheard of for snakes to get many different types of worms and these can sometimes cause diarrhea. Either way I have never had any of my snakes have diarrhea and I have had as many as 26 at one time.

PS I deworm my snakes twice a year as a preventative measure.
