attentiveear Aug 03, 2003 12:34 PM

Well here are some pics..... The cage is 8' x 30" x 26" tall
It is made out of 3/4" plywood and 1xs for the doors. The doors contain 3/16" glass and the center piece is 1/4". The finish is a forest green stain (not paint) with a poly top coat. Both finishes are water-based. The inside has 3 coats of poly on the sides, and bottom has 5 coats.

What a great enclosure!!! Now I actually have some ideas for creating my baby a home, over the next week or two!

I made a concept of a 8x4x2' cage, where the top lid flips up, and then the front, which holds removable panes (PlexiGlass or plain Glass), also flips out, so you have full access into the cage, it also has side air vents, and on the top it has an enclosed box where you can put all your lights and control strips, and it stacks onto an indentical cage (Which I'm gonna be building for my Albino Corn Snake).

It looks like they are well made. They make a white paint for garage floors that is a hard finish that won't take moisture. I was thinking about using garage floor paint on the inside to provide a more reflective surface. What do you think??

Thanks would be pretty durable! Most of these paints though are oil-based and must be aired out for at least 3 weeks before introducing critters into the cage. If you are going this route "Dry-Lock" paint for waterproofing cement walls/floors would be a great idea then.........

Good luck with the cage!
