Pen Envy

PHRatz Jul 31, 2006 10:25 AM

LOL that sounds so funny!!
Well I've had it myself.. the pen envy. We hired these guys a week ago, they finally showed up this morning and I don't see much progress just yet, the fence guys last year were slow but holy cow..
I'm a tad annoyed with this. (understatement)
Last week was one big mess, my modem stopped working, the contractor came here made a mess then left a mess all over the lawn for 4 days but didn't DO anything constructive.
I'm so ticked off right now. lol
BUT hopefully this thing will be completed by the end of this week.
One good thing that happened last week is that it rained heavily which finally brought Hobo out into the open. He's been under the old storage building since the first part of June because of the extreme heat. He's doing fine it seems.
I will get photos ASAP when it's done. I so hope all goes well now. ::::crossing fingers:::::

Well I am really bummed out now. There is so much construction going on in this area that even the local news ran a story about how difficult it is to find workers to complete construction jobs.
The company my DH works for recently built a new building and it's not finished on the inside because they can't find anyone to finish it. They are using the building but the walls are still gypsum board and little things are not completed even though they can use the building as is.

My pen is not even started, the ditch for the base is as far as they got then the company owner fired all the workers this morning so he's saying now he'll be here tomorrow to get to work on it.
I can see why he fired them. On Monday when a man was here to dig the ditch, he got it mostly done then another man came along at around 2:20 PM apparently to work but the next thing I knew there were 2 men under the tree where the breeze is best sleeping on my lawn.
SLEEPING on my LAWN!
Holy cow!
I call up my DH & tell him what's going on because I couldn't freakin' believe it.. he called the company owner, next thing I knew those 2 were up & doing some more digging but they are the ones who are now fired. Fired because they were supposed to be here again yesterday, they didn't show up.
So now I have a beginning of a pen but no pen. whaaaaaa
Somehow I knew this wasn't going to go my way.
arrggghh!!

I'm a little happier today, the company owner and a very large man showed up yesterday and built the forms for my pen. They built wooden forms inside the ditches that were already dug by the fired guy. They'll pour the concrete into those forms for the undeground base of the pen.. we're getting somewhere now.
I feel so much better about that today. I don't think it's going to be done as soon as I'd like but if they'll just get it done in the next couple of weeks I'll be thrilled.

It does but I'm still leery about it all. LOL
I'm not going to believe I have my pen until I actually see it!
