double clutching question...

pweaver Jul 31, 2006 10:44 AM

to double clutch a female, normally you would feed her heavily after she drops her eggs and put the male right back in with her. But what if you miss the opportunity to do this and she goes into her next shed cycle? Is the opportunity lost, or can you still double clutch her by doing the feeding/breeding after she finishes her shed cycle?

Try and find out.
I've also heard that you have a higher success rate if you offer the female fuzzies while she is gravid. They often don't take adult mice, but someone here (I'd hate to say who I think it was in case I'm wrong) who clearly knows a lot about breeding said that often they do take fuzzies while gravid, and that giving them fuzzies while gravid increases the double clutch liklihood.
