Continuing veggie issues

2doxies Aug 01, 2006 01:22 AM

Taking everyone's advice, my 14 mo old male is not throwing his veggies around as much. However, he is not eating them either. He ate the greens really good for quite awhile, but is not eating them now. He does eat his crickets, which I have cut back on. Any suggestions on how to get him to eat the veggies - I'm concerned since reading that this should be about 90% of his diet now. Any advice greatly appreciated!

Sometimes beardies...well from experience mine at least, will just go off of certain types of food. For a bit my juvi's went off of crickets of all things. You might want to try something totally different, if you feed salad try changing to shredded acorn squash or something. I know someone had a post about V8, for a bit I was juicing veggies for my beardies that would touch them normally and I had to change to a plastic syringe because the would go so crazy over the stuff. Keep trying everything it's frustrating but eventually something will stick.

try some greens with colorful veggies or fruits mixed in like a little bit of strawberries, red bell peppers, tomatoes, shredded carrots, etc. this will attract him and he will get a bite of greens too. also try a few mealworms or super worms on top, he will also get some greens.

Liek stated before they love colors. I also swear by a veggie chopper...it gives them less opportunity to be picky if it is all together

I do the variety/color thing and chopping/mixing well - may go back to the chopper. He likes wax worms on top, and is very precise about getting them and not anything else. I will try the other worms mentioned. I think I will try juicing and see if that gets him going again. Out of the dish of greens/veggies/fruit that I make for him, how much does he actually need to eat? This is frustrating because I feed him better veggies than I feed my own kids! Thanks for all of the help!
